You can continue with roller derby as a casual hobby, work your way into our competitive travel teams, strive to become a high-level official, or maybe all of those! Everyone over 18 year old who is interested in roller derby is welcome! No prior experience in sports or skating is needed, we begin by teaching you to skate. The course costs 70 euros for the skaters and for non-skating officials it is free. The course includes skating practices once a week along with start info and wrap up-evening. By taking this course, you'll learn all the basic skills of roller derby and are able to join one of the leagues as a skater or an official. More detailed course info and payment info will be sent by email after you fill the sign up-form.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? WHAT DO I GET?

The course fee for skaters is 70 € and it includes beginner course training and league membership for the remaining year. Without skates the course is free (Non-Skating Officials)

In addition, skates and guards are mandatory for skaters.
A new Beginner's package, costs around 200-300€, and they can also be found second hand for a cheaper price. Equipment rental from the league costs 10€/month for skates and 5 €/month for guards. Mouthguard is not included. Rental equipment and sizes are limited, so we suggest asking about them early. Equipment can be rented until the next beginner's course.

WHAT GEAR DO I NEED?

QUAD SKATES

WHEELS

88A-95A is a good hardness for our floors, but you can manage the course with other hardnesses. Recommendation is a bit harder (higher number) wheels to learn skating techniques easier. Different wheels can also be combined, for example, 4x 88A and 4x 93A wheels can be used in quite many places.

TOE STOPS
Black toe stops cannot be used due to marks left on the floor. Please note this when ordering equipment, as most skates come with toe stops that are black.

WHAT? WHEN? WHERE?

MOUTHGUARD
We recommended Sisu Mouthguard or similar for ease of use.

HELMET
Skating helmet (eg S1/TSG/Triple Eight) or a hockey helmet. A single impact cycling helmet is not valid. A helmet of the right size should be a tight fit.

KNEE, ELBOW AND WRIST GUARDS
The cheapest options from sport stores might need to be covered so that they don’t leave marks on the floor.

SKATE TOOL (or similar tools for adjusting skates at home. In practices, someone usually has a tool with them.)
